Roles and Responsibilities
REVIEWER
Appointed by: Editorial Executive
Application process: CV and covering letter to editor
Probationary period: 6 months [or two reviews]
Appointment period: Normally three years
Eligibility
- Application is open to fully paid up members of the Society
- Expertise in art education practice and /or research
- Experience of peer review welcome, but not essential
Reviewers are expected to:
- Familiarise themselves with the OJS submission and review system
- Promote the journal within professional networks
- Review between two and four articles in any calendar year
- Respond promptly to requests for reviews [within five days]
- Complete and return reviews promptly [within four weeks]
- Respect confidentiality at all times
- Declare any conflict of interest [reviews are carried out 'blind' but ocassionally reviewers identify authors or research projects. If this happens, reviewers are asked to contact the editor and the review will be re-assigned.
- Notify the editor of any change of email address
- Notify the editor if, for any reason, it is not possible to carry out reviewing duties
- Notify the editor if they are the author, or co-author, of an article submitted for consideration
NOTE: Reviewers who fail to complete these duties will be removed from the list of reviewers

EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBER
Appointed by: Editorial Executive
Application process: Members are drawn from the pool of reviewers.
CV and covering letter to editor.
Appointment period: Normally three years
Eligibility

- An exemplary record as a reviewer, for example a minimum of one year successful reviewing.
Editorial Board members are expected to:

- Contribute to policy and strategy in collaboration with the Editorial Executive
- Act as third reviewers when articles go to a second round of reviews
- Advise and encourage new authors and those for whom English is not the first language
- Notify the editor if they are the author, or co-author, of an article submitted for consideration

INTERNATIONAL EDITORIAL CONSULTANT
Appointed by: Editorial Executive / InSEA World Council
Application process: Members are drawn from the world of art education
CV and covering letter to editor - recommendation from InSEA or Editorial Executive
Appointment period: Normally three years
Eligibility
These appointments are made on the basis of the individual's reputation on the field of academic publishing in art education.
International Consultants expected to:
- Actively promote the Journal and seek new, high level, contributions.
- Contribute to policy and strategy in collaboration with the Editorial Executive
- Act as third reviewers when articles go to a second round of reviews
- Advise and take part in strategic reviews of the Journal, for example every two years.
- Notify the editor of any change of email address
NOTE: Consultants who fail to complete these duties will be removed from the published list
