Abstract

Stan Wilson is Cree fromthe Opaskwayak CreeNation at The Pas, Manitoba. Stan grew up on the trapline with his parentsand his extended family of22. He attended residential school at a time when Indian children were not welcome in the public school system in The Pas. Stan received his doctorate fromthe University of California in Santa Barbara. He has been director of education for his home reserve and forthe Prince Albert Chiefs. He has taught school at all levels and has been aprincipal and a professor in Alaska, Sacramento, andnow at the University of Alberta.
