Abstract

This conversation with the essayist, novelist, and immigrant writer (Iraqi, Canadian) Naim Kattan took place in Paris on 10 May 2018. The conversation conveyed Kattan’s early writing experience, the reasons of his exiled, Jewish community in Iraq, his views about cultural differences between Orient and Occident, the cultural diversity in Canada, and characteristics of Kattan’s novel Farewell Babylon

Ahmed Saeed Otaiwi Joudar, University of Szeged, Hungary

Ahmed Joudar is a third-year Doctoral candidate in the Department of Comparative Literature, University of Szeged, Hungary. His research in Doctoral Program focuses on the Postcolonial studies, Canadian literature, exile, immigration, multiculturalism, transculturation, cultural diversity, and hybridity. In Canadian studies, he is especially interested in cross-cultural writers who could live in-between different cultures and how they reflected their experience in their works.
