Students Work: A Discourse Analysis of Writing Center Mission Statements

AbstractThis research report summarizes my current project: a rhetorical analysis of how writing center mission statements represent their undergraduate peer tutors. Using critical discourse analysis, I investigate how the elision of the academic labor of student workers is intimately connected to the larger shift in higher education towards employing contingent faculty.
