Students Work: A Discourse Analysis of Writing Center Mission Statements

  • Andrew Rihn Stark State College
Keywords: writing center, critical discourse analysis, corporatization

Abstract

This research report summarizes my current project: a rhetorical analysis of how writing center mission statements represent their undergraduate peer tutors. Using critical discourse analysis, I investigate how the elision of the academic labor of student workers is intimately connected to the larger shift in higher education towards employing contingent faculty.
