Author Biography

Erina Harris, Ph.D. English and Creative Writing, recent SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Alberta

Erina Harris is a Canadian poet and Creative Writing Instructor (Ph.D. Creative Writing and Poetics). Her work has been published internationally and in translation and she has been the recipient of multiple awards, short-listings and international residencies. Her first book of poetry The Stag Head Spoke was short-listed for the Canadian Authors’ Association Poetry Award (2015). A graduate and Fellow of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she recently completed a SSHRC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Poetics and Pedagogy at the University of Edmonton. These excerpts are derived from her second manuscript Persephone’s Abecedarium: An Alphabet Play (An Eco-Poetical Adaptation of the Homeric ‘Hymn to Demeter’); publication date TBA.
