Abstract

Community Service Learning (CSL) can provide medical students a unique learning opportunity whereby they learn effectively through contributing to community initiatives as put forth by the community itself. This may be an incredibly powerful and respectful way to learn as medical students in rural, primarily Indigenous communities. As three medical students, we have taken part in such an opportunity in Haida Gwaii and what we have learned in regards to the unique challenges of rural health care we deem to be invaluable insights as we move forward in our medical education.
