Bridging the Gap in Patient Education: Connecting Patients and Providers

Authors

Abstract

Patient education and engagement is an important element of health care which can have significant impact on patients’ quality of life, morbidity and mortality. It is therefore important that patients with chronic conditions are made aware of, and encouraged to utilise, educational programs that are available. This commentary highlights two organisations offering free patient education programs within BC, and discusses the need for better publicising of these and other patient support services, to ensure that patients don’t miss out.
