Abstract

In “A Ride like Miss Johnson’s Wild Cat”, a Keynote Address commissioned by the Indigenous Literary Studies Association to mark their First Gathering, “The Arts of Community”, at the Six Nations Polytechnic on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in October 2015, poet and playwright Daniel David Moses come home to explore the ‘meme’ of E. Pauline Johnson, the community’s historic ‘poetess’ and the sort of life in literature it suggests might be possible for indigenous artists in Canada.
